The Easy Way to Skinny: Water 101

You heard my right. H20 is the way to go... Why exactly? Well why didn't you ask sooner.  

Well isn't he just a tall glass of water.

Why water?
Our bodies are about 60% water. Seems a bit strange, but every organ in our body uses water to function. They also are floating around in there in a water-like fluid. Add that to your cells needing water to function properly, and you are pretty much a lake in there. Minus the yucky fish.

Your body is flushed when you drink water.
When you drink water, it is processed and filtered through the kidney. It usually does a great job, but mind you, this is when it functioning properly. When you get dehydrated, the body slows down and can only afford to have some organs functioning. Since the liver has more important things to do than the kidney, it takes over the job for the both of them. It does it's best, but can't quite do the job. However, this means the liver isn't doing it's job at the rate that our bodies might need it. This means our body is not breaking down fat and creating the energy it may need.

On the flip side, this is great news for us! Our body has a wonderful liver to break down fat that is accessible and free! + water is free as well! Hello Metabolism Boost!

But how do I drink enough water?
It's actually really easy! All you must do is drink half your body weight in ounces of water. So, say you weigh 130 lbs, you would drink 65 ounces of water daily (meaning throughout the day). But that means only water can count! Did you know that caffeine actually dehydrates you? soda actually has the opposite affect on you than water! ahhhh.  but that fizz is just soo nice. I hear ya girl.

  1. I have such a problem with getting enough water! My trick is to drink it as green tea to trick my taste buds. This is something I need to work on.


    1. Brittany, I have to trick mine too! One of the ways I have learned to drink straight water is to have it with ice and a straw. So much more fun to sip through a straw. I also like to keep filled water bottles on hand to grab on th go.
