Tips On Dressing For Holiday Events

dress for the holidays
Have some big holiday events coming up? That’s one of the best parts about this holiday season, is that it brings everyone together! It is fun to have tiny reunions, friends throwing game nights, and family gift exchanges all packed together in one month! I wish every month was like December. Now if only we could all find that perfect outfit for the party? I’ve included some of the tips I use every time I get ready to go out!

1. Dress Code First things first, what is the dress code? There are a million possibilities, so make sure you find this one out! Some examples: Ugly Sweater, Black Tie, Casual, Formal, Dressy-Casual, yadda yadda yadda. You don’t want to show up looking like the odd one out!

2. Accessorize  Accessories can really make or break an outfit. And no accessories at all? That is just bland. Find one item that just screams YOU and add it to your outfit! The small twist will mark your signature brand on what you are wearing. For example: I love necklaces. Sometimes I choose statement necklaces, but other times it is the dainty necklaces that are killer. Pull that outfit all together with your unique accessory!

3. Fit your Personality This goes with the last tip, because you always want to add a little bit of ‘you’. What this tip is referring to is making sure you dress for yourself. Dresses, skirts, and jeans are MY THANG. However, you would never catch me in business trousers with no pockets. If you have to bend the dress code rules a bit to make yourself comfortable, do it!
4. Be Confident The biggest mistake I see in fashion is men and women wearing clothing they are uncomfortable in. If a sweater is too itchy when you put it on, it’ll still be itchy later. If you are itchin’ and scratchin’ all night long, you’re confidence will be a bust. How do you expect to hold decent conversations if you are pulling at your clothing all night long?! Wear clothing that is comfortable and that makes you confident!

5. Dress for Success Be sure to put your best clothing on, whether it is your jeans and a sweater or a formal gown. Clothing should be in tip-top shape. It looks pretty sloppy when people have holes or stains all-over.
6. Match Your Man Whenever Spencer and I are going out with a purpose (like to church or an event) we make a point of matching. I am not talking twinsies, just same color scheme, or maybe materials. As a couple, it looks great to coordinate.
