On Being Transparent

14 Comments 2 min read
Let’s get some things out in the open and also set things straight… bloggers get sent free things and sometimes get paid to post about things. Whew. There I said it.

Now, that you know that, here is something else you should know– I want to always be completely transparent about this AND my opinion of the products I am being sponsored by. I can’t say that I have always been transparent. Sometimes my posts in the past would only say C/O (meaning care of) if an item was gifted to me. This wasn’t as easy to figure out as it should have been. I have been paid to post about an app before without mentioning said payment. In the beginning, I even received some clothing I wasn’t even completely satisfied with that i felt obligated to post about, and write a good review about, for fear of upsetting the sponsoring company.

It is sad for me to have to admit that I built my brand on shaky grounds, but I am happy to tell you that I have been rethinking the way I would write my posts. I have started sending back clothing/products I don’t feel fit my style. If something went wrong or well with the PR, I have mentioned it in posts. As of lately, I have really been trying to disclose at the beginning of the post that it is sponsored, and at the bottom instead of writing C/O, it now says gift from. It is so important that I build a trusting relationship my readers so that you feel comfortable listening to my advice. Please know from now on I am planning on being completely honest about any payment or feelings towards a company.
Because you are important. I want to share my thoughts with you just like if we were friends in real life.
I apologize for getting caught up in the blogging world in the beginning, and trying to please everyone. Please know that it won’t be happening again.
Now that I am being honest, let me deliver the news… Lucy & Lyla has the best PR around. AND great clothing. This sleeveless cardigan looks cute with pretty much anything as a layered item. I am especially loving the look when paired with a plaid shirt… If you have a plaid shirt dress, it would be even cuter.

I love your outfit! And it is great that you are being more open with readers about your sponsors and opinions. You can't please everyone and even if you don't like something, companies would like to hear that too so they can address the problem if they see others saying similar things. You are doing awesome and look wonderful! =)
