Our Room

Even before I was married, I had started dreaming about my ideal house. I couldn't wait to decorate it, make it feel special and unique. Now that Spence and I are settling down a bit more down in Salt Lake (even though we plan on moving again) we have been able to decorate a little bit more.
In our future home I imagine white walls, and hardwood floors, with a ton of natural lighting. I love gold accents, and from what appears to be happening, blue. I love gathering eclectic items and finding a space for them in the house to be matched with normal decor.

I recently asked for a fur rug for my birthday, and I now can't wait to get an even bigger one. The feeling of the fur on your toes is magical. I had also been dying to have a faux taxidermy animal head on our wall. Near and Deer has a wide selection (including a t-rex!) and they sell them at the best prices I have seen. I was expecting the head to be light and hollow, but the antelope head is made from plaster and is very sturdy.

Spence and I were married in the Salt Lake Temple in May. It is such a special place to us! Artwork by Celeste has the prettiest watercolor of the temple, surrounded by a laurel wreath. It matched perfectly into my dream of having an eclectic yet delicate room decor. The picture on the bottom right is also of Spencer and I on our wedding day at the temple, the canvas was given to us by his sister, Hannah. In the middle is a picture that was at our wedding reception. We wanted to forget about a sign-in book (YUCK! when would I look at that?). Instead, we had our friends and family write messages around the picture so that we could always have it on our wall.

I am a huge fan of pillows, and we have at least six head pillows on our bed. Being surrounded by them at night is one of my favorite comforts. Throw pillows are always a must as well. Loom & Mill provided the cheetah pillow that sits on our LoveSac and our gold snakeskin pillow is from Pier 1 Imports.

I have been getting more and more into the idea of good photos. I was lucky enough to get permission to buy a continuous lighting kit for Christmas, and it has come in handy so many times! They provide the perfect natural lighting effect! We set up a little "studio" in the corner where the lighting can stay up all the time.
