Happy Turkey Day! You have probably already eaten your little heart out, said thanks around the table with family, and you are just settling down to some veg out time. Peace and quiet!
Well, I am thankful for many things. I feel like everyday that I go to work with my students, I am constantly reminded about things to be grateful for. I also am very grateful for my family! They offer me so much shelter from the harsh world. I am super duper grateful for my husband. I sent this text to him the other day (don't tell him I am writing it here, he'd hate that):
"Did you know that I love you? I love that you're willing to wake up early and do homework so that you can spend more time with me at night. I love that when I wake you up in the morning by getting ready, you don't get mad. I love that you listen to my work woes every time I tell the stories, whether to you or someone else. I love that you offer solutions that are outside of the box for me that give me a new perspective. I love that you understand where I come from when I worry about various things in my life, and you take me and console me. I love that you think about what I love and incorporate it into your life as well. I love how considerate you are of my feelings in everything that you do. I love you because you put up with my attitude, when it comes out multiple times a day. I love that you make me laugh and that you laugh at my jokes. I love you for staying strong, even when I hurt you emotionally or physically. I love that you're so capable to feel for others that sometimes it brings you to tears. I love that you're a great big brother to Kendal and Taylor, making sure that you always connect with them. I love that you worry so much about other's feelings that you are constantly keeping up and calling them to make sure they know that they are loved. I love you for always working hard and going to your job, never complaining about it. I love that you also continue to go to school, aiming high, and offering me the best that you can for our future. I love you, and I could go on forever about my feelings about you! I hope you have a good day, thank you for ensuring I had a wonderful birthday!"
Sometimes it is okay to be grateful for shallow things in life as well. Like the fact that this RAGA sweater is adorable and the delicate lace makes me feel dressed up (when I am clearly not). Or like the fact that my ring collection is becoming more complete, thanks to the turquoise and black onyx rings I added from Song Yee Designs (PSSSST, have you entered the giveaway to win your own?). I am also loving this turquoise necklace, made by Song Yee as well!
