If you follow my Snapchat (username: lauryncakes), you might have seen my recent story about how to keep your skin protected in the summer sun! This past weekend I went to the pool in my Salty Mountains one piece swimsuit and had to share all the goodies that make my summer complete. Sadly, Snapchat stories aren’t forever, but, good news if you missed it, here is a recap of my favorite pool protecters!
1. SPF: I love, love, love Australian Gold! It goes on nicely, gives great barrier from harmful UV rays, and smells like an Orangesicle. I recommend getting at least 30 SPF. Anything lower is being too risky, and don’t even kid yourself with 10 or lower! 50 SPF is great for people who have light or freckled skin. Anything above that is a little bit of a sales gimmick! Make sure to apply and dry before getting in the pool (I usually apply a layer before even going outside), and always reapply about every 80 minutes.
2. Face SPF: H2O Plus Sea Results Line Resolution Cream with SPF 30 is a wonderful facial moisturizer and sun protectant all in one. It is actually important to apply this everyday, regardless if you plan on being by the pool! This face cream goes on great and won’t make your makeup look cake-y or feel any different. Perfect for everyday use or just in your beach bag! Also, I know I am weird about smell, but the scent is also a good one.
3. After Sun Care for Skin: MAUI BABE ALL THE WAY! This is a lotion that is specifically meant for “after sun browning” to put moisture back into the skin! It’s claim to fame is using natural ingredients to “heal and seal” your tan. I especially love that it contains aloe vera to cool off any skin that might have received a little too many rays. Of course, I wouldn’t steer you wrong with the scent either! (P.S. I am a fan of the lines’ other products as well)
4. After Sun Care for Hair: My personal favorite right now to deliver a butt-kick to dry ends while making my hair smell like coconuts is Madam C.J. Walker Scent and Shine Coconut Oil. Buy it and thank me later, it is heaven in a bottle for your hair.

I think it's cool that you are recommending sun protection. There have been so many news reports lately about people being adversely affected by sun exposure. Doctors even recommend sunscreen for if you're just walking from your front door to your car.

Thank you! When I was in HS I didn't protect my skin like I should have! Not only is getting skin cancer a scary thing (glad I didn't get it) but so are the aging effects the sun has on our skins!

Great tips for sun care; and I LOVE that swimsuit. As a bigger gal, I've always favored one piece bathing suits. That's a GREAT look for you. Hugs – Alexis

Super advice for those out in the sun. Sun can be very dangerous if you do not protect yourself

It definitely is! I am glad that more research has come out about the aging (and cancer) it can cause!

I really like the large hat, it is a great asset to the outfit. I also like the long stripes of the dress.
