Take Time for Yourself

Do you ever feel super worn down? I really hit my wall this weekend with that. After reflecting upon it, I realized that, although I had been working on my “empire”, I had been devoting a lot of my time and energy on others. I needed to take time for myself in order to feel complete!
I know, I know, we have been told that service cultivates relationships, and to love our neighbor. Those things are still true! You know what else is true, too? That time spent on yourself is beneficial as well. Stop feeling guilty for wanting to pamper yourself and get a manicure, or or wanting to shop for an hour, or for feeling the need to exercise when you have mom/wifey/work/worldly duties. You deserve to recharge at least twice a week.
I spent my weekend recharging. Lunch with friends, yoga on the dock (in my The Sweatbar crops), vegging out to shows. While I know that you can definitely over-do it, as long as you are fulfilling all of your obligations, I say indulge. Get the cute round SwimZip towel you’ve been eyeing. Buy yourself some flowers. Spend the day out at the pool. Paint your toes! You deserve it girl.

You can only be beneficial to others if you are at your best. Taking care of ones self is essential! Love this post. Great photos too. Loving you hair like that!

Thanks for agreeing, Elise! I always get a guilt complex when I want to take personal time, it is nice to hear from someone else that it is okay!

Amen to this sista! I try to find at least 15 minutes a day for me. That helps to curb my week hangover. 🙂

It was definitely relaxing. The coolest part was that it was on a dock, so every once in a while there was a subtle sway.

Great advice! I'm going to take you up on it and get a pedi this weekend! 😉

I think I might try yoga as it is the ultimate non-impact activity. Taking time to care for yourself is often not even on a woman's to-do list.

I love this! I couldn't agree more! It is important to be the best you and work your butt off, but if you don't take time for yourself every now and then you can't enjoy what you are working for! – Kendra (Girl Meets GAMEDAY)
