Adult Game Night with Codenames: Deep Undercover

Hi! How are you?! It has been awhile since we have updated you here. We have been so busy traveling through Europe, then catching up on sleep and with friends when we got home, that keeping this little place up-to-date has been the last of my priorities! Hopefully you were following along on my Instagram, InstaStories, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter to see more of what we have been up to!

Yesterday was a whirlwind of Dad related festivities. Spencer likes to call it the Tour de Dad because we have so many people to visit on Father’s Day! It’s always a blast getting together and having good conversation, good food, and good times. One of my favorite things about getting together with family is that the kids are all grown up! We are all in different stages of settling down, and it feels like we can finally enjoy the company of each other in a new, more mature way!

One of my best-loved activities to do with family is play boardgames. We are notorious for getting out of hand (due to a high level of competitiveness)! Codenames: Deep Undercover – a new spin-off of the hit game Codenames – gives the previous version an entirely different plot with all-new words, art and mature play. The gameplay remains the same, where each team has a spymaster looking at a key card, gives their team a one-word clue and a number to locate their team’s words. With Deep undercover, a new twist is added with the inclusion of blank cards, allowing players to introduce their own words to the game. Although we have been playing the game with our (adult) family members, this version combines the original game with an adult theme making it perfect for bachelor/bachelorette parties, ladies nights in, or game night at the local bar! Codenames: Deep Undercover is available exclusively in North America at Target and Target.com.

The rules are pretty simple: there are two spymasters (on opposing teams), and they know the identities of 25 other agents. The teammates of each spymaster only know the agents by their codenames. Spymasters  can only give one-word clues that relate to any number of terms on the board (the cards with words on them). The spymasters’ teammates try to guess the correct word, while avoiding those of the opposing team. Sound fun, right?! This version of the game is hilarious because of the adult content of the terms– which I just so happened to leave out of these photos ;)! It can lead to some pretty serious laughter.

We can’t wait to test out this game on our couples friends! Are there any games that you have been loving with your compadres or family? Please let me know in the comments below so that I can check them out! We are avid gamers around here!

Be sure to pick up Codenames: Deep Undercover at your local Target.
